Video: Ganzbot reads Twitter feeds aloud, looks f... engadget

We've seen methods for hooking house plants up with their own Twitter account, but there's hardly anything more satisfying that building a robot to read back all those feeds from the thousands of people you're undoubtedly following. Ganzbot is a decidedly low-budget robot that relies on an Arduino Decima to control the head actions and a USB cable to receive up-to-date status information. Have a look at the innards as well as a few words being spoken just after the jump.

Fujitsu's U2010 goes for 11 hours strong with ext... engadget

Fujitsu's cute-as-a-button U2010 (or U820, for you USers) was shown off over in Japan at a company event, and while most of the specifications were already hammered out, one particular tidbit at AkihabaraNews took us by surprise. With seemingly every other netbook out there getting blasted for lackluster battery life, the U2010 will reportedly support an extended cell that offers up 11.1 hours of run time. We've no idea if that's a "maximum" number based on "optimal" usage, but no matter how you dice it, it sure beats the (also respectable) 5.3 hour rating given to the standard battery.

Top 10 Stupid iPhone Tricks TechNewsWorld
By just about any measure, the Apple iPhone App Store has been an astounding success. It reportedly did $30 million in business in its first 30 days, during which time users downloaded 60 million applications. For a store that didn't exist before the launch of the 3G iPhone in July, that's pretty damn impressive.
DrumChannel: Finding the Rhythm of a Community TechNewsWorld
There's something both primal and communal about the beat of a drum, whether it's just one or 2,008 of them -- as the world experienced at Beijing's Opening Ceremony to kick off the Olympics -- which might be called the ultimate global social networking event. A drum's beat seems to capture people from the inside out, turning something as individual and personal as a heartbeat into a collective experience.

A lot of effort in recent months has been expended toward something people are calling "data portability." Just about everywhere you look; you'll bump into people pontificating about it. In case you've been out of the loop -- perhaps hiking in the Himalayas -- you can run the term through your favorite search engine to pull back numerous articles and blog posts on the subject.

Copy-and-paste comes to the iPhone...and it's ope... NewXWin
I was very excited to see on OStatic that OpenClip, an open-source copy-and-paste application for the iPhone, is out.

In case you needed proof in a divine being....

Could Apple shut it down, as it has with other applications that it doesn't like? Well, as OStatic points out, OpenClip "uses shared space, outside the common resource space that Apple's SDK protects, to facilitate copy and paste." So maybe it's on firm legal territory.
